January Self-Assessment Deadline

With a week to go before the self-assessment deadline, the numbers still yet to file their tax returns are slightly down on last year, but still high with 3.4 million people still to file.

This year HMRC will not be waiving any penalties for late filing or late payment and the interest applied to late payments now stands at its highest level in 14 years.

Therefore, if you have not paid your 2021/22 tax liability, I would suggest you do so now to make sure HMRC receives it before 31 January 2023.

To check your 2021/22 liability, log in to your personal portal and check the tax payment/repayment summary for 2022. This clearly sets out the amount you need to pay by 31 January 2023 and 31 July 2023.

At the top of the form you will find your UTR ref, you will need to quote this and pop a K on the end as your ref number.

For ease here is the link to make the payment:

Should you need to make a payment plan here is the link:

This should be sufficient to finalise your tax but should you have any issues please do not hesitate to get in touch!
